Initially basic matters are easy.
But as time went by, people became more advanced, and easy basic matters may become complicated.
This includes marriage. Especially the wedding part.
In Islam, it is supposed to be easy. It should be simple.
But not in Malaysia. With influences from olde-Malay customs, it became a difficult affair to run/manage. And an expensive one at that!
As a basic matter, marriages should be easy on anybody. There should be any reason to complicate it. What matters in not the event of wedding, but the marriage itself. It should last, and should not be a burden.
And with the current rise in vice (not saying it wasn't in the past), I think it is high time that we change our paradigm.
